Defend Our Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to advancing school safety and protecting our children's future. We empower students with our patented Safe Space Security Devices, enhancing the 'Run, Hide, Fight' strategy by providing immediate cover and concealment from school violence.
Our journey began with a father-son duo, Todd and Donald, who were deeply affected by the recurring incidents of school shootings. The devastating impact on students, parents, and communities was unbearable.

February 14th, 2018
We watched the Parkland shooting on the news killing 17 people.
That is the moment Todd and Donald started the design on the Safe Space Security Device to give students instant access to ballistic defense from a school shooting, sexual harassment, unpredicted tornados, and other threats of harm or injury.
May 18th, 2019
The Santa Fe High School Shooting happened and killed 10 people. With no solution to saving children’s lives available, we continued to design and develop the Safe Space Security Device and filed for a patent in September 2018.
June 19th, 2019
Todd and Donald applied and were granted nonprofit 501(c)(3) status for Defend our Children to combine with communities to conduct fundraising and give Safe Space Devices away to schools.
February 14th, 2021
After 3 years of design, development, and finalizing the Safe Space Security Device, we launched our national awareness campaign. Over the next 30 days, our efforts went viral over the news, Facebook, Reddit, and other social media. Now, we need YOUR help with fundraising and working with local school districts to request Safe Space Desks in YOUR schools.

April 9th, 2022
A huge milestone for Defend our Children's mission. The SSSD passed durability, structural performance, safety and ballistics testing. The product is nearly available for public use. This has only been possible thanks to people like YOU. Those who have supported the journey of providing school violence protection to students.
